Take a look at the first graders reading their informational writing pieces! We were so proud of each and every one of them! We worked hard today adding more details to our all about and how to stories! Our details are telling focusing on who, what, where, and how! Ask us more about it at home! Check us out! Listening to the winter story Brave Irene- about a fierce storm. Recording our thinking as we listen and sharing with our friends our think marks using those evidence based terms! Spending our morning meeting with Mrs. Lutz and Brownie. Today we learned strategies to pay attention. We reviewed what a tentascope is and how we use it in first grade! Ask us about the strategies and our listening rules! On Thursday we had the opportunity to read with our 4th grade friends. We shared with then more of our meaningful connections in a book and think marks, and together we worked on using evidence based terms! It was awesome and so exciting! What a morning we had! A morning filled with excitement, energy, and most of all our special visitor! Mark shared an oral story of how he became a writer! We heard one of his famous children's book- A Snowman Named Bob,too! And at the end we got to ask questions we have been wondering about! He shared parts about Change the World Before Bedtime, why he doesn't illustrate his books, the insights of being an author, and so much more! Ask us about his visit! Today in writers workshop we discussed how people have ways to remind them of things they never want to forget! We brainstormed how a backpack helps us remember our lunch and school supplies! In our classroom we use teaching charts to remind us of our learning targets! We talked about how important it is to make sure we are using all these resources so that we can learn new and harder things about writing teaching books! Check us out in Action!!!! Today we had a Robotic Demo assembly! We learned how some of our GCS 5th and 6th graders built robots and the challenges they faced making them carry a penny! It was super awesome!
