Today during math workshop our focus was on making arrangements of numbers. We reviewed the vocabulary words number sentence, sum, and total. The Kindergarteners were able to talk about the arrangements they made and share with their partners!
Today in math workstations with our partners, we decomposed the number 5 into two parts. We talked about the new vocabulary word sum, as well as different combinations of 5 we could make. To help learn this new academic language we had the chance to act out story problems using marshmallows and hot cocoa mugs!

Kindergarten Manners in the Library
Today we talked all about Martin Luther King Jr. We read a non-fiction text, viewed Moby on Brainpop Jr., and we even acted out Rosa Parks city bus experience in 1955, which led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Students were able to make the connection to the story The Crayon Box that Talked, which we read last week. They then created their own piece of writing about what peace is and their dream for James Morris School. Also, check out the link below it gives you a virtual tour of the house Martin Luther King, Jr. grew up in .
