Today we learned how sound is a vibration! Your child made a paper cup telephone to experiment with how sound vibrations travel. Something that your child might have found surprising is how well sound can travel through string, as long as the string is taut. You can support your child’s curiosity by inviting them to consider whether sound can travel through any material. For example, here’s a fun, easy experiment you can do at home: Will sound travel through the wall? Have them try holding a cup to their ear, just like with a paper cup telephone, but with the bottom of the cup pressed against a wall. Then go to the other side of the wall and talk. See if it works! A big thank you for everyone who came out this evening! It was a wonderful time! Please visit the "Learning Celebration" page to view links and student work! Have fun exploring!
WOW what a great week it has been! With our Field Trip to the CT Science Center, LIFE Event- Teddy Bear Picnic, and Enrichment Clusters, it has been a lot of enrichment and student engagement. Take a peek down below to view a Flipgram Video of our BIG day at the CT Science Center, as well as some pictures from the LIFE Event!

Your child's work will be displayed! We hope to see you there! * Wednesday June 1st- Field Day (rain date is 6/8) * LAST DAY OF SCHOOL- June 15th- this will also be an Early Dismissal Day This week we have been diving deeper into our reading unit! We have been discussing that the best part of reading stories isn’t just that we go on great adventures! It is also that we get to meet interesting characters along the way!
Characters are the MOST important ingredient in any story, so this week we have been paying close attention to details and LEARNING all the we can about them! We also learned about main characters, as well as secondary characters! Also, be sure to ask us about our MAGIC jar! This week we moved into our forth reading unit, Meeting Characters and Learning Lessons. We started the unit discussing the importance of how we get ready for a reading adventure by making a comparison towards how we get ready for a vacation or a trip. We said how every time we open a storybook, we will meet a character who is going places and doing things. We will get to go on these same adventures and meet the same characters and be part of the story, but we need to fill our reading suitcases with all the strategies we know and leave some room for new strategies, too! It has been an exciting start and we have been loving all the adventures we have been going on!
This week we worked on four new reading targets/strategies to help up on our reading adventures. We worked on:
And with our reading partners...
