First Grade is a big year for both you and your child. It is a huge transition year for most. Communication will be the key to the success of your first grader this year. Please do not hesitate to ask anything!
About the teacher...
My name is Tara McMahon and I will be your child’s First Grade Teacher for the 2020 –2021 school year. I want to express to you and your child, how excited I am to be starting my seventh school year at Goshen Center School! This will be my tenth year working as a classroom teacher. I graduated with my Bachelor’s from Central Connecticut State University, majoring in Elementary Education and English Literature, as well as completed my Master’s Degree in Special Education and K-12 Special Education Certification from the University of Saint Joseph. In my free time I enjoy hiking, biking, running, crafting, and spending time with family.
My philosophy for learning continues to evolve, but the one thing I have always recognized is that each child has a unique learning style. Discovering individual strengths, and working with your child during hands-on experiences, will promote creativity while learning through self-discovery. It is my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard with a high level of enthusiasm.
I am looking forward to forming a positive partnership with you this year! Please take a look at our classroom website, as well as follow our classroom blog!
