Today we read the story A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting! The class worked together asking and answering questions about the story, as well as listening to others and taking turns speaking! After the story they wrote about their favorite part using the sight words they have been learning!

Today during math workshop we measured and compared our foot to our peers! We used team work measuring our feet, counting with counting cubes, and recorded our work! Then we asked our friends how many cubes their foot was! On Friday the students took part in Music Enrichment with Ms. Powell! They have been practicing self-control and helpful hands throughout the week! During Music Enrichment- they put their hard work into action by playing musical chairs! Such superb sportsmanship! Today we looked closely at our writing pieces and talked about if they have a setting, an action, feelings/thoughts, and dialogue. We went back into our writing folders and began to add more! Take a look at some of our work! Today students wrote thank-you cards for the Veteran luncheon tomorrow. They learned the importance of writing thank you notes: it's kind, manners, and being polite. As a class, we discussed the mechanics of being a super writer. We talked about why some letters have capitals and began to use them in our cards! Today your child was an active participator in a shared-science inquiry experiment! The Kindergarten class learned the science vocabulary terms: observe, pulp, skin, stem, seed, meat, and ribs! They learned ways to observe, record, and discuss their findings by watching a video clip on Brain-pop jr. Using their senses, the class looked at the outside of the pumpkin! Next, they used their background knowledge and made predictions about the inside of a pumpkin. After carving the top off the pumpkin, students took a close look and explored the inside! They recorded their findings through drawing and writing, as well as communicating their findings with one another! Shared science inquiry is not only fun, however; it is also confidence building. |
