A CLOSE look at a Pumpkin!

Today your child was an active participator in a shared-science inquiry experiment! The Kindergarten class learned the science vocabulary terms: observe, pulp, skin, stem, seed, meat, and ribs! They learned ways to observe, record, and discuss their findings by watching a video clip on Brain-pop jr. Using their senses, the class looked at the outside of the pumpkin! Next, they used their background knowledge and made predictions about the inside of a pumpkin. After carving the top off the pumpkin, students took a close look and explored the inside! They recorded their findings through drawing and writing, as well as communicating their findings with one another! Shared science inquiry is not only fun, however; it is also confidence building.
