This morning we entered the classroom surprised. As we peeked at our butterfly house, we found two brand new beautiful butterflies. We took out our science notebooks and recorded our observations and questions.

In today's math workshop- students had to find out exactly how many chairs there are in our classroom. As a class they discussed how they could solve the problem using counting and recording strategies they have been practicing. Students sketched the tables and then the chairs at each table, others used counters to organize the chairs and counted groups. At the end of the workshop students shared how they organized the data! Today the kindergarten class had a blast at Arts Alive! The day started off painting doggy ceramic banks and thinking about the colors they wanted, as they explored through mixing. In the next art session, they created knapsacks with fabric markers. They mapped out different designs to sketch and shared their artwork with others. The class got a little messy tie-dying t-shirts, but loved every moment of making bulls-eyes and mixing dyes! They relaxed for a bit while creating magic rainbow write designs using special writing pencils! After lunch we took a walk down to the preschool room and practiced yoga with Mrs. Berglund, Ms. Rozof, and all our preschool friends! We practiced breathing techniques with our rubber duckies and pretended we were in the desert! The day ended outside by mixing up cement for our gardenstones with Mrs. Galinski. Ask us about Irish- folk dancing...some of us learned a few steps! They had a truly wonderful experience. A big thank you for all the parent volunteers, PTO, and room moms! Check out our Flipgram----http://fgr.am/f/TG3VFAni4M We have been using another app during reading stations called Razz-Kids! You can download the free app at home. The login is tgleason1. Once logged on, students can chose their name and their own library of books will show up. They can choose to listen to or read on their own, record their voices, as well as practice their understanding of the story. |
Miss GleasonWhat we're learning in first grade. Students are also making comments in class! At home add to the posts, too. Archives
