Today in Writers' Workshop we talked about what to do when we may run into problems as a writer. We discussed problems like sharpening pencils, finding paper, and getting writing ideas! We learned about " new" tools we could use when we may be stuck and practiced them! Wow- we got a lot of writing done today! Today was Day 1 with Mrs. Sweet for Art enrichment! We explored nature looking for Alphabet Letters! Here's some of what we found!! Ask us about it!!! Kindergarteners hard at work! Today we prepared our dish for the Harvest Lunch- Painted Runner Beans! A big thanks to Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Sweet, and Mrs. Moore!!! Also, the JMS community and 5th and 6th graders!!! Today in Writers' Workshop the kindergartners wrote back about what they love to do with you! They enjoyed reading your pieces of writing from last night, making connections, and sharing with friends! What an amazing time this evening at Open House! It was so nice to meet you and your extended family!!! What a great way to start off the school year! Also, a big "round of applause" for all the moms, dads, and grandparents for drawing a picture for your child's writing folder! For anyone who was unable to attend I will send home a Power Point Packet with information. Also, check out the link below of Student Slideshow. Today we read the story THE DOT! We discussed how the character took a risk! We made connections about how we're taking risks as a reader and a writer! We explored dots throughout the content areas of math and science, too! Today we explored flowers and seeds in a garden. The class read a story- Planting a Rainbow- had a discussion about colors, seeds, and other items we could grow. We worked on our fine motor by cutting flowers and pasting them to creat a collage! Then we talked about our harvest lunch next week and toured our JMS Garden! Wow! What fun the Kindergarten class is having learning how to form Capital Letters and matching uppercase letters to lowercase letters with ABC cookies!! This past Friday the entire school had a chance to attend a music concert on the Morris Green! They sang songs, danced with friends, and even had the chance to enjoy some ice cold fruit pops! Overall, it was a perfect way to celebrate a new school year! |
