Check us out! We started today reading with our 4th grade reading buddies! We sat hip to hip- shoulder to shoulder- and shared some of our favorite books, as well as new books! At the end we shared how much we enjoyed- "making new friends", "teaching the 1st grade new words", "talking about stories", and "having fun while reading!" Thank you Mrs. Spino's class! We're looking forward to next week!

With the second week of reading homework almost down you may be wanting to know more about reading in first grade? First graders have been diving deep during reading stations with new sight words, as well as word work! Take a look at this helpful article about first grade milestones on PBS.org! Today we had our weekly visit from Mrs. Lutz! We learned about having a group plan. We have really been putting forth a lot of effort working together, being kind, and respectful! We worked together passing cubes around a circle- while using our manners! From everyone sticking to the plan we were able to complete a task of building a tower! We showed our PEP! Today we were chunky monkeys in reading! With our partners we found little words inside big words. We know that looking for a part we already know will help us read new words! Today we had a discussion about comparing quantities. We learned the vocab words greater than, less than, and equal to. We were also introduced to the standard notation! We learned the symbols <,>,=! These symbols can be used as one way to record comparisons of two numbers! |
Miss GleasonWhat we're learning in first grade. Students are also making comments in class! At home add to the posts, too. Archives
