The year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of accomplishment. The past two weeks in our classroom, students have been engaged with completing their end of their opinion writing unit, which is a great accomplishment. Last Tuesday, they wrapped up the unit putting forth their personal best efforts.
Students had the opportunity to collaborate on a piece of opinion writing on a common theme. Students were able to work together and write about popular video games or movies, favorite places to visit and eat, and the best toys to purchase! I was able to congratulate writers on the hard work they have done across this unit, drawing from all they have learned to make their pieces not only convincing, but also easy to read. The students agreed that if reviews are meant to convince readers, it goes without question that it will be important for these reviews to be clear. With the help of our Sixth grade friends, they were able to publish their pieces digitally. using the app i-movie! Each group was in the spotlight to perform their commercial, giving a short pitch to coax their audience to read on. Congratulations to our writers for their impressive work with publishing reviews that others can read, helping make choices about movies, restaurants, toys, and games by using opinions they have passionately shared!
