This week we have been focusing on making Connections with the Exemplars Assessment Rubric.
The Practitioner (meets the standard) level of the Exemplars Assessment Rubric defines connections as “Proper contexts are identified that link both the mathematics and the situation in the task.” Examples a student might make at this level include:
We have been really focusing on how to recreate the problem by substituting different numbers, as well using what we know about our fluency facts and thinking about it as an addition or subtraction problem. Scroll down below for some possible solutions to the problem:
