The Kindergarteners teamed up with Mrs. Barger's second grade class and conquered a search for Pond Critters! They explored what creatures live in their local ponds. They engaged in a hands-on catch-and-release discovery session. Take a look at what they found!!! Inside White Memorial's museum they had an opportunity to have an interactive discussion with Mr. Greenwood. They learned all about: Who Eats Whom. This session featured information about herbivores, carnivores, food chains, and food webs. Animal Adaptations exemplified various birds, reptiles, and mammals and how physical features and behaviors help these creatures to survive. Feathers and Fur centered on the characteristics of birds and mammals with emphasis upon Connecticut species. The Slimy and the Scaled featured characteristics, habitats, and life cycles of various species of Connecticut reptiles and amphibians. What an action packed morning! When we got back to school we wrote all about our trip. Students discussed their favorite parts, new information they learned, as well as connections they made from their non-fiction reading, research, and science units!
