Today we looked at different flowers and observed them using our senses! Observing the flowers carefully we did the following: used a ruler to measure it, wrote a careful description of the flower, made connections using our senses, and then the best part was writing a poem about the flower using descriptions related to our senses. Tomorrow we will craft our very own poems!

Today with our first grade reading partners we focused on summarizing our books! We're told the story and asked and answered questions about our books! Look at us go! Today we were introduced to things that come in twos! We learned a new vocab word called pairs! We were able to brainstorm so many things that come in pairs! We also had a class discussion about our quick images with a focus on the strategies we used to solve how many were altogether. In our math stations we were able to solve a word problem about how many hands are in a group of 8 children! This week we have been practicing reading for a purpose in our reading Wow what a writing day we had! We have been learning how to review our own pieces using a careful reading eye. We have been adding more writing details about our opinions about our favorite collections! Take a look at us! This week we have been putting forth our best efforts in our newest math station! With our partners we have been taking turns rolling a dice and continuing to add on. We have been working on counting on from the last number and continuing to add more to our 10-frames! We have been counting and adding on all the way up to 60! It's been a lot of fun! During our daily word work we have been focusing on vowel teams! This week we have been looking closely at ay and ai! We learned that ay is usually heard at the end if a word- where ai is heard in the middle! We have been spelling up a storm with these vowel teams! Today we solved word problems using some of our math tools, as well as subtraction strategies. Organizing our numbers using a 10-frame, a number line to count backwards to solve, and recording our work using an equation! |
