This week we have been focusing on building good habits during reading, writing, and math. In reading, our good habits have been around "taking a sneak peak" at our just right books and discussing what we notice about the title, pictures, and predicting the story. We have been recording our evidence using post it notes, as well as talking with our classmates about what we observed. We were also able to transfer our good reading habits into our writing time, by using our "writing muscles" and adding more details in words when crafting a beginning, middle, and end to a "small moment" story.
Also, we can not forget about math! This week we have launched math workshop and have been fully engaged in our math stations. We have been talking a lot about numbers, how we can count, how we can put numbers together, and take numbers apart. We each had a chance to team up with a partner and participate in a math task called, "Hide the Jelly Beans!" Ask us at home what our task was! We have been so excited sharing out our "All About Me" bags and posters! We have been learning so much not only about ourselves, but about our classmates, too! Next week we will be participating in an "Art Enrichment" block with Mrs. Sweet where we will be creating a self-portrait of ourselves. Follow us on Twitter- link is above- to see more about the process! Please continue to send in important papers from the office in your child's communication folders, as well as on Friday looking for your child's "Specials Schedule & Show and Share time". I hope everyone has been staying cool these past few days!
