I hope everyone enjoyed the November break and I can’t believe it is already December! This as you know is a busy month filled with excitement and joy! And this week we encountered that within our academic areas of study!
This week we launched a brand new reading, writing, and math unit! In reading, students have been exploring non-fiction informational books. They have been learning about so many new and exciting topics! They have been continuing to practice all the good reading habits they learned in the first unit, as they delve into this texts! In writing, students transitioned from being a small moment story teller, to being an "expert". They have been writing their own books about topics they know all about. All I can say is WOW! During math, your child has begun investigating collections of objects. They have been describing and sorting collections of buttons and shapes according to specific attributes. They are continuing to learn how to make representations that show how they sorted the objects and explain it in writing, using the academic math vocabulary: sorting, describe, attribute, and rule. Be sure to check back again soon!
