This week in our classroom, students have been engaged with completing their end of their opinion writing prompts, which is a great accomplishment. On Tuesday they wrapped up the unit putting forth their personal best efforts. On Wednesday, we mixed it up a bit during writing workshop time and revisited personal narrative writing, as well as some of our opinion writing pieces. The rest of our week consisted of celebrating the end of our opinion writing unit. Students had the opportunity to collaborate on a piece of opinion writing on a common theme. Students were able to work together and write about popular video games or movies, favorite places to visit and eat, and the best toys to purchase! I was able to congratulate writers on the hard work they have done across this unit, drawing from all they have learned to make their pieces not only convincing, but also easy to read. The students agreed that if reviews are meant to convince readers, it goes without question that it will be important for these reviews to be clear. For today’s share, the students came to the meeting area with their group, each holding on to their own review, and one student holding the cover. Next week, students will continue this process and publish their pieces digitally. Stop by next week and take another look at what is happening!
