Today during writing we did not just have a lesson in revision we learned about elaboration. We took a closer look, using our eyes and ears in a different way, and read former first grade students work. We talked about what we saw using the "Did I do it like a first grader" writing checklist, and how these writers were able to make a beginning for a story, put their pages in order using transitional words (first, next, then, last, and, so, then), writing an end to a story, and writing a story across three pages or more. Then we got right to work looking at our own pieces. We added more details in words- which we learned means elaboration!!! Wow we were so proud!!!
